From Western Victoria to the Electronic Underground: Lucas King Shares “Vulpes”

Lucas King is an independent electronic artist from Edenhope, a small rural town in Western Victoria, Australia. His new track, “Vulpes,” reflects a musical journey built on self-reliance, experimentation and a desire to create without boundaries.

King’s relationship with music started early. At 12, he began playing drums before adding guitar to his skill set. By high school, he was performing in bands and writing music of his own. Although those projects did not lead to a long-term breakthrough, they gave him a strong grounding in songwriting and the heavier side of rock—a background that continues to colour his electronic productions today.

After moving to a small town where finding other musicians was not always easy, King began producing solo, playing and recording everything himself. Over time, his workflow developed from instrument-based recording to dawless electronic setups, before eventually transitioning into DAW production.

Rather than chasing a single genre, King follows the emotional pull of each idea. He often works within the 90–125 BPM range, favouring slower, groove-led electronic music, but he is equally comfortable stepping away from conventional dance structures when inspiration demands it.

“Vulpes” was born during one of King’s productive creative waves. Made quickly to preserve spontaneity, the track captures his instinctive approach: less overthinking, more feeling, and a genuine love for the music he creates.
