Andy Ash Works Daylight Into the Acid Line

Departure Lounge Records has been gradually opening its doors beyond Brandon Pinel’s Ode to 97 material, and Andy Ash fits that expansion without forcing a rethink. On When The Sunlight Comes, the Liverpudlian producer keeps his focus close: fluid house movement, acid lines that bubble rather than bite, and melodies that feel designed to drift across a room without crowding it.

The title cut sets the tone with bright electronics and layered motifs folded into a wide-eyed house groove. It is warm and open, but still shaped with enough club weight to make sense in a deeper set. Sunrise Acid leans further into the early-hours feeling, a yearning, dew-soaked dancefloor track with its acid detail kept soft around the edges. Flabaire’s remix shifts that idea into dreamier electro territory, leaving the acid flecks suspended in a more spacious frame.

Ash doesn’t keep the EP in one lane. Deep Edge slows the pulse for a Hammond-laden mid-tempo shuffle, while 3 Feet East is the most direct cut here, built with a clearer peak-time function. Across the record, the pull is in the balance: nostalgic but still practical, introspective without drifting too far from the floor.
