In this exclusive interview, we caught up with Meetch to discuss his journey with Digital Dance Radio, how he selects his guests, and what exciting plans he has in store for future episodes of the show.
Hi Meetch, how are you?
Very good!
To start, can you share your thoughts on how you feel your radio show has been going since its launch?
It’s been an awesome journey having some really big names guest mixing on my show. I love being able to feature the artists I look up to.
When it comes to the guests, what do you look for in an artist to feature on the show?
I just like to have the tempo pretty similar but I’m open to all sub-genres of House and maybe some Techno.
Can you share what you think hosting high-profile guests like Martin Jenson, Dubdogz, Tungevaag and SMACK, adds to the show’s identity?
It is definitely very exciting for me. Giving my show a real boost and some awesome PR surrounding it. I would say it is a growing force for the show.
Have any of the guest mixes influenced your own style or inspired new directions in your music?
Not too much, I just like having variety in the show so if anything, it just inspires me to keep going with it.
How do you feel hosting talented guests has helped expand the reach and impact of Digital Dance Radio?
I feel this gives people more of a reason to check out the show, where they can listen to their favorite artists while also listening to my mix and discovering new music at the same time.
If you could choose any artist in the world to bring on as a guest to Digital Dance Radio, who would it be and why?
I would love to bring someone on like Dillion Francis or MauP. Not only do I think the music would be fitting but they are two of my favorite artists as well so this would definitely satisfy a few goals of mine!
Do you adjust your approach to creating your sets when you know they will be presented alongside a guest mix?
Not necessarily, I usually just understand the style of music and go with it. I even surprise myself sometimes with transitions and songs I chose. I like to just categorize songs by melody and then just wing it. It’s more fun that way and I discover new ways to transition songs for live shows.
What kind of feedback do you get from your listeners about the guest mixes on the show?
People are usually just impressed by my guest features, which I think is really cool. This gives me motivation to keep it going!
During November you featured Ilkay Sencan and Larce on Digital Dance Radio, how would you say their contributions align with the direction you’re taking the radio show moving forward?
It’s great to always have more and more guest mixes from larger and larger artists. So, I would say the show is going in a positive direction!
Finally, can you tell us about an artist you’re particularly excited to feature on an upcoming episode?
Jax Jones was a really great guest and so was Lucas & Steve. I listened to a lot of Jax Jones when I started diving into Dance music years and years ago and I currently play a lot of Lucas & Steve so it was AWESOME having them on the show.
As Digital Dance Radio gains traction, Meetch’s passion for curating diverse and exciting mixes continues to shine through, motivating his work and ambitions for the future direction of the show. From high-profile guests like Martin Jenson and Jax Jones to rising stars like Larce, the show remains a dynamic space for fans to discover fresh sounds and connect with their favourite artists.
