Trancecoda, the UK’s dedicated haven for trance devotees, will make its long-awaited return to Birmingham on Saturday 6th April when it takes over Digbeth’s hottest new venue, XOYO Birmingham. This day-into-evening event will stage a three-hour set from the legendary Paul van Dyk in XOYO’s main room, while the almighty Anomaly – Birmingham’s long-running trance party – will take over the Roof Garden oasis with even more quality electronic music programming.
Paul van Dyk’s legacy speaks for itself. The Grammy-nominated, globally renowned German artist is one of few DJs to be ranked World No. 1 by DJ Mag, twice. A pioneer of the trance genre for over 30 years, PVD’s legacy includes one of the most iconic trance tracks of all time, ‘For An Angel’; his remix of Binary Finary ‘1998’, which hit the top of the German Dance charts; and more recently, his 2023 ACID TRAXXX EP with acid house legend, DJ Pierre.
Today Paul van Dyk is as relevant as ever. 2024 sees him release his eleventh studio album, celebrate 25 years of his record label, VANDIT Records, and return to Ibiza with his three-month residency, SHINE IBIZA at Eden.
Gearing up to take clubbers on a sonic expedition of space and time, Paul said,
“I’m really excited to return to Birmingham in April. The city has played such an important role in the electronic music scene over the years, so it’s always a joy to return. It’s my first time playing XOYO, and I’ll be going in deep for three hours with plenty of new material and some fan favourites. Bring on the lasers!”
Completing the bill at Trancecoda is an international lineup of stars including; VANDIT Records mainstay, Alex M.O.R.P.H; progressive and melodic DJ Ruben de Ronde and a set from his trance focused project MRPHLNDR; Beatport chart-topping producer Dark Fusion; Trancecoda’s residents, and many more.
Since opening in September 2023, XOYO is fast becoming Birmingham’s most popular cultural haven. Sister venue to the iconic XOYO London, XOYO Birmingham has been churning out an impressive supply of high-quality clubbing experiences over its five spaces, including the Roof Garden complete with breathtaking, panoramic views of Birmingham’s skyline. Created by and for the people of Birmingham, XOYO is a vibrant hub of creativity, music, and community, and has an exciting and inclusive live music and clubbing programme lined up for the rest of the year.
From 4pm until midnight, clubbers at Trancecoda should prepare for a mesmerising event with a tapestry of emotions from start to finish.
